Do you love a great beef stew? I always thought beef stew was the most boring, bland, thing a person could eat so when my in-laws kept mentioning Grandma’s beef stew, I wasn’t interested until my husband presented me with the recipe and I finally tried it. I’m telling you... you must try this recipe. I love it and how could you go wrong with a tried and true family favourite?
- Servings: 6
Directions
Grandma Toews’s Beef Stew
2 lbs beef cut into 1.5inch cubes (stew meat, chunks of chuck roast or steak all work well.)
2 medium onions, chopped
4 medium carrots, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
4 medium potatoes cut into chunks
2 cans tomato soup
1/3 cup quick cooking tapioca
1 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp salt
1/2 tsp basil
1/4 tsp pepper
1 cup water
Mix altogether in a large roaster and bake @ 300* degrees for 4 hours. Serve with sour cream and warm biscuits or put into a jar and give to a friend or neighbor, it will make them happy:)
